CHORAL SINGERS/TROMBONE CHOIR

Formation

The group started as a pure male choir in the early 1960’s. The group was known as the “Quit Singers” because of the Negro spiritual songs they sang. Later on some females were accepted into the group to raise the standard of singing and thus the name changed to Ramseyer Choral Singers. Though the group had all along existed, it was not recognized as a group in the church due to the fact that it was not allowed to use drums in church worship. Thus it was not until 1972 at the Synod held in Kyebi that after performing wonderfully that the group was accepted and hence inaugurated as a group in the church and Ramseyer congregation in particular. Among the founding members are Mr. Daniel Fei, Mr. P.A. Appiah-Fei, Mr. E. Y. Berko, Mr. Joseph Ameka, J. Manase Oppong Jnr. and Mr. Sam Dankwa. Since then the Ramseyer Choral Singers has grown into a formidable singing group in the church and the nation as a whole.

Activities

The main objective for the group’s formation was to evangelize through singing. The group has over the years saturated the city and its surrounding villages with a lot of crusade thereby winning souls for Christ.

Again, the Group has also visited Austria and Germany as part of its objectives to propagate the gospel.

Presently, the group has a trombone choir attached to the mainstream group who also plays during church programmes. Aside the main objectives, the group is also engaged in assisting the needy.
